Features To Consider When Choosing a WiFi Camera

Wifi cameras are webcams that are used for surveillance. They are digital video cameras that transmit data via a local network or the internet. The cameras make it possible for easy monitoring of a security system. Each type and design of Wifi cameras are ideal for a particular purpose. For instance, dome WiFi camera are made specifically for outdoor use, while PTZ cameras provide the best viewing angles, and those cameras equipped with infrared light are meant for night surveillance. Thus, it is important to know the different types and design features of a network security camera.

Motion Detection

Cameras with motion detection are very advantageous to the security of your premises. The detector can send notifications when the camera observes any motion within the field of view. The notifications can alert you to suspicious activities. This helps you in monitoring your situation.

Field of View

Field of view refers to the width of the area a camera can record at one given time. Objects outside the field of view when the image is taken are not registered in the photograph. This is important as it gives a sense of how many cameras you can install and the place you have to place them.

Quality Audio Systems

The sound feature can refer to the camera receiving audio via a microphone, emitting sound via a speaker, or both. The system helps in evaluating motion and sound sensitivity, alert types, and frequency, speaker and microphone sound quality. Cameras with the ability to receive and send sounds can double up as an intercom.

Resolutions

Digital cameras are identified based on the resolutions, which are measured by megapixels. This term is simply a measure of how many pixels the camera’s image sensors captures to produce a digital image. The more pixels a camera captures, the more information is gathered. The resolution defines how transparent the image will be. A clear visible camera is very helpful when trying to identify faces and items in the pictures that your camera records.

Night Vision

Night vision is the ability to view objects in low lighting conditions. Night vision is made possible by the combination of two approaches which are sufficient spectral range and sufficient intensity range. The distance to which the camera can record images in low or no light situations can instill a high impact on its effectiveness because often criminal activities happen at night.

Movement

A good Wifi camera has a variety of movement options. A camera can tilt which means the lens can move up or down while keeping the horizontal axis constant, or pan which means the camera lens is moved to one side or another. Pan or Tilt features may allow the camera to record a larger area than a static camera. This reduces the total number of cameras needed to observe a given area.

Cost

If the camera costs more than the valuables you are trying to protect, then it doesn’t deserve the purpose. Cost is a factor to consider when purchasing any item. Yes, it's no doubt that a more expensive camera brings with it better services, but that doesn't mean you have to purchase the more expensive one.
